EasyLeasy: Lease a Domain to Own from $50 a Month
Use the domain today, pay $50 a month, and own it after the last payment. Buy it out any time, or cancel any time with nothing more owed. How EasyLeasy lease to own works.
A great domain shouldn't have to wait for your budget. EasyLeasy lets you start using it today for a small monthly payment, and it becomes yours after the last one.
How it works
On domains that offer it, you'll see EasyLeasy next to Buy Now on the domain page — for example "EasyLeasy $50/mo · lease to own · cancel any time". At checkout you pay the first month, and the same amount is charged automatically each month after that until the domain is yours.
Here's a real example, a domain priced at $598:
- Today: $50
- Then: $50 a month, for 14 payments in all
- Last payment: $8.73
- Total if you lease to the end: $658.73, including $30 for two registration years added to the domain
Checkout shows these figures for your domain before you pay, and they're fixed for your lease.
Use it right away
You don't wait to own the domain before you can use it. From the start of your lease you can point it to your website, set up DNS and email, and build on it. CNM.com holds the domain in escrow during the lease, so it can't be transferred or sold out from under you. After your final payment it's transferred to your own registrar account.
Buy it out any time
Want to own it sooner? From your dashboard you can buy it out at any time after your first payment, for the remaining balance shown there. There's no fee, and the earlier you buy out, the less you pay in total.
Cancel any time
EasyLeasy is a lease, not a loan. If plans change, cancel from your dashboard whenever you like:
- payments stop immediately, and you owe nothing more;
- there's no cancellation fee;
- the domain goes back to the seller;
- payments already made aren't refunded — they paid for your use of the domain and for its registration.
If you cancel before the domain has been delivered and your first payment hasn't been collected, you're not charged at all.
If a payment fails
It happens: a card expires, or a bank declines. We try again 3, 7, and 14 days after the due date and email you each time, then send a link to pay with any card or bank account. You have 21 days from the due date to catch up. If the payment isn't made by then, the lease simply ends, the same as cancelling.
There are no late fees, no collection agencies, and no credit reporting — ever.
Registration years are included
Your lease keeps the domain registered the whole time. One registration year is included for each year of the lease, collected with the first payment of that year, and added to the domain's registration before it's transferred to you. If you buy out or end the lease early, you only pay for the years already collected.
EasyLeasy or a payment plan?
Many domains also offer a payment plan: equal monthly payments that cover the price over 2 to 12 months. It's paid off sooner, so the monthly amount is usually higher. EasyLeasy keeps the monthly payment low and fixed, lets you walk away at any time, and lets you buy it out early. Pick whichever fits how you'd rather pay — checkout shows both side by side.
