Domain Marketplace Fees, Compared

CNM.com charges sellers a flat 9% commission on every sale and buyers nothing at all. Afternic charges 15–25% depending on your nameservers, Sedo 10–20% depending on the sale channel, and Atom 7.5–30% depending on the listing type and price. Here is the full picture.

What Buyers Pay on CNM.com

The price on the listing is the price you pay. There is no buyer-side service fee, no markup at checkout, and payment plans cost nothing extra.

$0
Buyer fee on every purchase — the listed price is the full price
0%
Interest on installment plans — monthly payments, no APR, no financing markup
1.5%
Discount for paying by bank transfer instead of card
24h
Typical transfer time once payment is confirmed

Your card is only authorized at checkout and captured when the domain is secured — if a seller fails to deliver, the authorization expires and you're never charged. On Buy Outright purchases of $1,000 or more you can also check out through Escrow.com (Escrow.com's fee applies and is shown before you pay).

Looking for Dan.com?

Dan.com is gone — GoDaddy retired it on June 27, 2025. What made Dan worth using hasn't disappeared, though: the clean buyer checkout where the listed price is the full price, and monthly plans that let you pay over time while you use the domain. That's how CNM.com works — no buyer fee, 0% interest on installment plans, EasyLeasy lease-to-own on selected listings (a fixed monthly amount, cancel any time, buy it out any time), and escrow-backed delivery on top.

Why a Flat Rate Matters

1

No nameserver penalty

On Afternic, keeping your own nameservers costs you an extra 10 points of commission. On CNM.com your rate is 9% either way — pointing at our nameservers speeds up delivery, it never changes your payout.

2

No channel surprises

Sedo's rate depends on how the buyer found you; a partner-network sale can double the commission of a parked Buy Now sale. On CNM.com an offer, a Buy Now, and a payment plan all settle at the same 9%.

3

You can price it in

A flat rate means you know your net the moment you set a price. No tier table, no minimum-fee math on small sales, no recalculating when a buyer switches payment method.

Common Questions

Which domain marketplace has the lowest fees?

It depends on the sale. Atom's 7.5% standard-listing rate is the lowest published tier, but its premium listings run 15–30%. Sedo starts at 10% but only for Buy Now sales of domains parked with Sedo. Afternic is 15% at best and 25% if you keep your own nameservers. CNM.com charges a flat 9% on every sale with no conditions — for most premium domain sales that makes it the lowest effective rate, and the only one you can predict in advance.

Does CNM.com charge buyers any fees?

No. The listed price is the full price — there is no buyer service fee or checkout markup, and installment plans carry 0% interest. The one exception is optional: on Buy Outright purchases of $1,000 or more you can choose to pay through Escrow.com, and Escrow.com's own fee (shown before you pay) is covered by the buyer.

What happened to Dan.com?

GoDaddy acquired Dan.com in 2022 and shut the platform down on June 27, 2025. Its listings and sellers were migrated to Afternic. Dan.com no longer operates as a marketplace.

Can I pay for a domain monthly?

Yes, two ways. Most CNM.com listings offer interest-free installment plans — you pay the same total as the cash price, split into monthly payments. Selected listings also offer EasyLeasy, CNM.com's lease-to-own plan: a fixed monthly amount, you can cancel any time and owe nothing more, or buy the domain out any time for the remaining balance. Leasing to the end totals more than the cash price — checkout shows the exact total before you start. Either way you get full use of the domain while you pay.

Why is Afternic's commission sometimes 25% instead of 15%?

Afternic's rate depends on your domain's nameservers at the moment of sale: roughly 15% if the domain points at Afternic's nameservers and 25% if it points anywhere else, with a $15 minimum. CNM.com doesn't do this — the commission is 9% whatever nameservers you use.
