Pay by Bank and Save: How the CNM.com Bank Payment Discount Works

Pay for your domain straight from your bank account and we take 1.5% off the price. Why the discount exists, how it applies at checkout, and who qualifies.

Most people pay for a domain the same way they pay for everything else online: they type in a card number. That works fine — but on larger purchases there's a cheaper way, and we'd rather share the difference with you than absorb it quietly. Pay directly from your bank account at checkout and the price drops, automatically, before you confirm anything.

Here's why the discount exists, exactly how it works, and what stays the same no matter how you pay.

Why CNM.com discounts bank payments

Card payments aren't free. Every card transaction carries a processing fee — typically around 2.9% plus 30 cents, charged by the payment processor. On a $50 subscription that's noise. On a $5,000 domain it's real money: roughly $145 that goes to payment infrastructure instead of to anyone involved in the sale.

A direct bank debit costs a fraction of that to process. When you pay from your bank account instead of a card, most of that fee simply never exists — so CNM.com passes the savings back as a discount on the domain price, currently 1.5%. On that same $5,000 domain, paying by bank saves you $75.

There's no catch and no separate promo code. It's the same domain, the same checkout, and the same protection — just a payment rail that costs less, with the difference handed to you.

How it works at checkout

The discount applies itself. Here's the whole flow:

  1. Go to the checkout page of an eligible listing and choose Buy Outright.
  2. In the payment form, you'll see a note: pay by bank transfer and save, with the exact dollar amount for that domain.
  3. Select US bank account as your payment method and connect your account.
  4. Your total updates immediately — the discount line and the new amount are shown before you pay anything.
  5. Confirm the payment. Your receipt shows the discount explicitly.

Two details worth knowing:

  • The discounted price is payable by bank only. Once the discount is applied, checkout locks to bank payment — the lower price and the cheaper payment rail go together. If you change your mind, one click switches you back to the full payment form (cards, PayPal, Klarna, and the rest) at the regular price.
  • Bank debits take a few business days to clear. That's the trade-off for the lower cost. Your order is placed immediately, and everything downstream works exactly as it always does.

Who's eligible

The bank payment discount is available on Buy Outright purchases from trusted sellers — sellers with an established delivery record, whose listings also offer payment methods like PayPal, Klarna, Cash App Pay, and Amazon Pay. It applies to USD purchases of $500 or more.

You don't need to memorize any of that: if a listing qualifies, the savings banner appears right in the payment form with the exact amount you'd save. Payment plans keep their own advantage — 0% APR over 2 to 12 months — but the bank discount is for paying in full.

Same escrow protection, whatever you pay with

A discount would be a bad deal if it meant weaker protection. It doesn't — the escrow process is identical for every payment method.

On trusted-seller listings your payment is collected at checkout and held by CNM.com — the seller then has 7 days to deliver the domain into CNM.com's escrow account. Money never reaches the seller until the domain is secured in CNM.com's escrow. If the seller fails to deliver, you receive a full refund — the funds were sitting in escrow the whole time, not in the seller's pocket.

And before any of that: no listing can be purchased on CNM.com until we've verified the seller's ownership of the domain with a registrar and DNS check. You're never charged anything until that verification has passed — by card, by bank, or by anything else.

One quick check before any big purchase

Premium domains are syndicated widely — the same name is often listed on several marketplaces at once, and many marketplaces are part of the same network. If you want to know where the seller actually stands, the check takes five seconds: type the domain into your browser. If it lands on our order page, the seller has pointed the domain itself at CNM.com — the strongest trust signal a seller can give a marketplace. If it lands somewhere else or nowhere at all, that's normal too, and the verification-before-charge guarantee above protects you either way.

The short version

If you're buying a domain outright from a trusted seller and the price is $500 or more, pay from your bank account: the price drops by 1.5%, the exact savings are shown before you commit, and your money sits in escrow until the domain is delivered — same as every other payment method.
